Dead Stick Beach
Landing (based on a sci-fi short story I read as a teen, forget the name or
author)
The pilot landed his pointy
space plane on the beach
It was a long sloping
beach so he needed a touch of rudder
Like his wife tickling
one of his nuts
But she was dead like
everybody else
Space travel did that
or light speed did
Several years of it was
toooo delayed
Thus the pilot
returned to a world now changed
Humanity was gone and
so was everything else
Smoke and ash remained
along with a poisoned atmosphere
The carbon monoxide
allowed him to land
Gave his wings and
controls something to bite on
Or he would crash like
a meteor
His nuclear fuel used
up not enough to light a cigarette
He had no way to replenish
his oxygen
So in three hours he
was dead
Or sooner if he popped
the door
And took a breath of
poisoned air
Fuck that time for a
beer and some metal tunes
Maybe the aliens saw
me land and will rescue me
They can even join me
for a beer
There are twenty four
out of date cans...
