Family Affected
A wife cried when her husband died
He was killed when a burning building collapsed
A son mourns his dad who lost his life
The burning car exploded like a bomb
The casualties in a war with no border limits
Unlike a normal battlefield
You would have to be a robot
Or numb not to feel the pain and loss
And sacrifice the firemen do for us all
Their lives for our lives an exchange
Are you aware of this courage
And what firemens' families feel
When their loved ones are killed on duty?
Stop for a minute and think about that
Saved Winners
The winners are lives saved
Fires put out property saved
Champion fire fighters
Top of the line never flinching
Being aware of fear using it
As a point of determination
To fight fire with fire
Put that bastard out!
Use the extinguishers or hose
Blow on the damn fire
If that would work
Or even use your hands
A fireman is always ready
Just like a cop always on duty
Ready no matter when or where
The winning attitude even when losing
A winner never loses
Not even to fire
Or risk of death
Losers
The losers are the dead and injured
Whether fireman or civilians
Or pet cats and dogs and guinea pigs
You can't bounce back from death
Injuries are bad enough
Taking a fall from a burnt out floor
Or being burned on your face
Real life risks in the situation
Burning buildings and vehicles
Each a killer and destroyer
Worse than an enemy soldier
The battlefield owned by fire
Enter at your own risk
Be prepared to lose and die
The vanquished will be that
Remembered as the dead
Lost their lives by fire
Or smoke inhalation
Or a long fall
Where's the damn cat?
Stuck up a tree
Call the fire brigade
Men in uniform
How nice!
Rescue our cat
Give them a cuppa
Marvel at their muscles
Our wonderful fireman
Saving our cat
Up the tree
Tattoo
We all got the tattoo
To remember our colleague
And dear friend a brother
He died on duty
While doing his job
He knew the danger
But never ceased
Not till the end
But he's not gone
In our tattoos
And hearts
Our bro lives on
Bautista Singh pen name?
The thunder and clashing of continents in my head
Family Affected
Sitrep
Intel is needed
All the time
When and where
Fire type and intensity
How many trapped
Anyone hurt or killed
Intel is like water
The key to life
Hazards are there
Where are they?
What are they?
Keep the lads safe
Who fight the fire
What is the sitrep?
Keep it updated
Or trouble comes
The sitrep is life
Like water or air
Engine Number 7
Each engine has a number to identify it
Each engine has a crew to man it
Just like Engine 7 one of many
Each crew member has a number
Each item of equipment has a number
All is itemized and noted in a ledger
Organisation is key as is planning
Always have a plan for everything
And well trained motivated men
Ready for the next call
Off they go again
No Water
The water ran out
The fire kept burning
It would till the end
When all combustibles were gone
Exhausted and turned to ash
Including people and souls
Houses and possessions
All carbonized changed form
The water ran out
The pumps ran dry
The fire had a field day
The firemen lost this fight
The war wasn't over
It never would be
There was always the next fire
A further victory won
With lots of water
An ocean of it
Quench
Orange flames burned hot and high
They were hungry to burn
A feeding frenzy like a shark
Black acrid smoke coiled and roiled
The worst killer full of chemicals
More died by smoke inhalation
Than were burned to death
Which was the worse way to die?
Shall we ask the ghosts?
Was fire or smoke the worst killer
Both fire and smoke are killed by water
Water is life and saves life
Just like the firemen do
Water their most important tool
Just like hoses and fire beaters
And fire engines and protective uniform
Give them a million gallons
To kill a thousand lethal fires
This way the fireman is God
Power of life and death over fire
Winners
Losers
