Soldier Types from my new book with link

Soldier Types
What type of man becomes a soldier?
All types of man from a baker to accountant
From the criminal offered either jail or the army

To the graduate who wanted to become a man
All signed up and were given a number
Along with a rifle and uniform and orders
Off to war they went aged 18-22

Keen to show they were ready and able
To kick both German and Japan where it hurt
This they did hundreds of times over

But after Germany and Japan kicked them
Killing their buddies and losing them battles
After these harsh lessons America stood up
Making a stand to do what was needed

Smash the Axis militaries two front war
First Imperial Japan and then Nazi Germany
But it was soon apparent that both were equal

One threat the same as the other
But different in their make up
Yet the same in their fighting intent to win
Both were heavy weight opponents

With skill and tenacity and a knockout will
This was the nature of the enemy to fight
The Army of Democracy stood up

And took on the challenge to be victorious
Once and for all even if it took forever
And cost every single soldier his young life
They started the war we’d finish it

DC-3

DC-3
A Post-War design classic with the looks of an actress.
Silver alloy cool taking you cross country.
Fancy a holiday?
Fly off in a Douglas DC-3.
The height of style and Art Nouveau cool.
It's speed and range revolutionized air travel.
There wasn't nothing like it before except the beautiful Boeing 247.
Hundreds of civilian ones were made but war ended that.
Giving the DC-3 its finest hour as thousands were built.
Called C-47 Skytrain, they gained immortality over Arnhem and Normandy.
Dropping paratroops and flying in supplies for the army.
Braving Flak and enemy fighters.
Shoot downs and crashes were common but they were always there.
In the middle of the battle doing what it did best, being a flying workhorse.
One survived being rammed by a Japanese fighter.
Others flew over The Hump, risking storms and four mile high mountains.
A few went missing with their crews, never to be found.
The aircraft was that good it was copied by the Soviets and Japanese.
After the war an improved version was built but it wasn't needed.
Thousands of war vet transports were cheaply available.
They flew through the decades, on and on and on.
Now in the 21st Century there are hundreds still in service.
Regular passenger flights are flown in Canada and Columbia.
A testament to Douglas' legendary DC-3 design.
Fitted with turboprop engines, they still proudly serve.
Some will fly for a hundred years or more.
The world's first airliner to achieve that feat.
Stylish yet simple, historical yet humble, this is the DC-3.

Detonate the Night from my new anti war ebook

Detonate the Night
The attack came with the ferocity of war
War like only we can know
For we knew this moment was coming
But we didn’t think it would be so
Bad in the way that death is final
And all knowing that life ceases
When enemy explosive discharges on our positions
All we can do is to wait it out and endure
Those who survive must be ready to resist
Throw our enemy back from whence he came
But killing him is more preferable to that
For he will return in twenty years like he has done now
We will bear his bombardment and emerge
Then we will defeat him and smash his army and weapons
And savage his homeland as he does ours and we will win
Once the shells stop we will rally those who remain
And we will charge his guns so Victory is ours

definition of lonely lol

Dead Stick Beach Landing (based on a sci-fi short story I read as a teen, forget the name or author)
The pilot landed his pointy space plane on the beach
It was a long sloping beach so he needed a touch of rudder
Like his wife tickling one of his nuts

But she was dead like everybody else

Space travel did that or light speed did
Several years of it was toooo delayed
Thus the pilot returned to a world now changed

Humanity was gone and so was everything else

Smoke and ash remained along with a poisoned atmosphere
The carbon monoxide allowed him to land
Gave his wings and controls something to bite on
Or he would crash like a meteor

His nuclear fuel used up not enough to light a cigarette

He had no way to replenish his oxygen
So in three hours he was dead
Or sooner if he popped the door

And took a breath of poisoned air

Fuck that time for a beer and some metal tunes
Maybe the aliens saw me land and will rescue me
They can even join me for a beer
There are twenty four out of date cans...

Merc Secret Plane Stories by Jimmy Boom Semtex

“We were faster than them and could out climb them but they out turned us and were more agile. Bert tried to turn in a horizontal fight with a Mig 17, he never made it. The Mig zipped round and blew him apart. Bert never had a chance. I climbed way up above the Mig to dive down on him with my superior speed and get him with a missile shot. He saw me when I was climbing up and pulled his nose up and took a shot at me. I remember seeing his tracer shells arcing up in two separate streams and falling away out of range. He now knew he was dead. I took my time climbing four thousand feet above him. I kept my throttles on max in my climb, using the water to boost my max engine power. At the top of my climb I killed the water and lit my burners and came down like the Devil. I locked up the Mig that killed my wingman and fired a single Sidewinder. In those days we could only get the enemy from the back or above and in the rear where his engine heat was. This I did and my missile blew him to bits. There was nothing left and I had my second kill, my first with a missile,” Bubba quietly continued. I ordered two more beers, he insisted on paying the bar tab.

Eventful War Nick Armbrister new book new book new book

Eventful War
Nick Armbrister

This is Nick's new anti war poetry collection about World War Two. A very varied collection of work in several different poem styles like verse, rhyme and Haiku. There are poems on the machines of war like the Hurricane fighter, on the bomber plane, on U-Boats, and tanks. The men who did the fighting and those who sent them off to war are covered. Why would two brothers fight one another on opposing sides? Works also covers equipping the men for war, on the historical aspects of the battles, on spoofing the enemy, about the weapons like the bayonet, bullet types, guns and rape as a weapon of war. The poems are intended to make the reader think. What is war? The work here covers opposing sides and much much more. A second volume will follow in future.https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/924473
