English Mountain Man

English Mountain Man
The English mountain man just died
He was a legend in his own time
The quaint little chapel by the hill was full

His remaining contemporary and friend was there
Paying his respects like the others
Remembering a man who was of the high ground

Tho he was down to earth and a peoples' person
The stone walls he built were straighter and just right
His solid legacy which will last forever

Long after his body is taken back to Nature
His home was below the mountains
Where he worked his entire life

From down the mine to the limestone quarry
To maintaining his part of road
Near his small farm with land and animals

And finally building stonewalls that amazed everyone
From fellow farmers to visiting hikers
I'd love to go back in time and meet him

One of England's last mountain men
Have a beer with him and listen to his stories
A man from a time and history now gone

I will always remember the mountain man
Especially when climbing his mountain...

REBEL JET

REBEL JET

Forty years after its birth the rebel F-20 is an angel of the sky.
Purple in colour to blind its enemy’s eyes, it has laser weapons
and thrust-vectored engines controlled by thought.
This is the craft for mercenaries flown by the daring
and 21st century knights into battle –
they fight for the new republic and the ancient rebel way
against an old royal enemy as deadly as the devil.

info on my new book project

the book is called
Upside Fucking Down in a Blazing Manchester Bomber – Poems from My Life and More by Nick Armbrister

and will be out late 2020

heres a poem

Man Living in the Dustbin
There is a man who lives in a trash can
He’s a funny old character
Telling jokes and dancing a gig
Always happy and funky
He’s become a legend in his head
Something bigger than nothing
Following you to the store
And saying Hi then turning to go
Hoping you follow him
Then give him kindness
A sausage roll or bottled beer
The dustbin man who we see
Wondering why he lives this way
Sleeping in the bin his home
Very cosy if he ay say so
His dustbin down the alleyway
Where nobody will bug him
An ideal example of humanity
Living with a smile in his head
And setting the example
To always smile :)

Eventful War Nick Armbrister poem

They equipped him with a rifle so shoot far and wide
They equipped him with a boots to march onward in enemy lands
They equipped him with a uniform to represent his country
They equipped him with a sack of grenades to blow bunkers
They equipped him with a steel helmet for protection from shrapnel
They equipped him with a long bayonet for close quarters combat
They equipped him with a radio to receive orders from headquarters
They equipped him with a cigarette ration for you’ll soon be smoking
They equipped him with a box of condoms to protect his rifle and penis
They equipped him with a varied meal menu of Iron Rations of beef or pork

Soldier Types from my new book with link

Soldier Types
What type of man becomes a soldier?
All types of man from a baker to accountant
From the criminal offered either jail or the army

To the graduate who wanted to become a man
All signed up and were given a number
Along with a rifle and uniform and orders
Off to war they went aged 18-22

Keen to show they were ready and able
To kick both German and Japan where it hurt
This they did hundreds of times over

But after Germany and Japan kicked them
Killing their buddies and losing them battles
After these harsh lessons America stood up
Making a stand to do what was needed

Smash the Axis militaries two front war
First Imperial Japan and then Nazi Germany
But it was soon apparent that both were equal

One threat the same as the other
But different in their make up
Yet the same in their fighting intent to win
Both were heavy weight opponents

With skill and tenacity and a knockout will
This was the nature of the enemy to fight
The Army of Democracy stood up

And took on the challenge to be victorious
Once and for all even if it took forever
And cost every single soldier his young life
They started the war we’d finish it

DC-3

DC-3
A Post-War design classic with the looks of an actress.
Silver alloy cool taking you cross country.
Fancy a holiday?
Fly off in a Douglas DC-3.
The height of style and Art Nouveau cool.
It's speed and range revolutionized air travel.
There wasn't nothing like it before except the beautiful Boeing 247.
Hundreds of civilian ones were made but war ended that.
Giving the DC-3 its finest hour as thousands were built.
Called C-47 Skytrain, they gained immortality over Arnhem and Normandy.
Dropping paratroops and flying in supplies for the army.
Braving Flak and enemy fighters.
Shoot downs and crashes were common but they were always there.
In the middle of the battle doing what it did best, being a flying workhorse.
One survived being rammed by a Japanese fighter.
Others flew over The Hump, risking storms and four mile high mountains.
A few went missing with their crews, never to be found.
The aircraft was that good it was copied by the Soviets and Japanese.
After the war an improved version was built but it wasn't needed.
Thousands of war vet transports were cheaply available.
They flew through the decades, on and on and on.
Now in the 21st Century there are hundreds still in service.
Regular passenger flights are flown in Canada and Columbia.
A testament to Douglas' legendary DC-3 design.
Fitted with turboprop engines, they still proudly serve.
Some will fly for a hundred years or more.
The world's first airliner to achieve that feat.
Stylish yet simple, historical yet humble, this is the DC-3.

Detonate the Night from my new anti war ebook

Detonate the Night
The attack came with the ferocity of war
War like only we can know
For we knew this moment was coming
But we didn’t think it would be so
Bad in the way that death is final
And all knowing that life ceases
When enemy explosive discharges on our positions
All we can do is to wait it out and endure
Those who survive must be ready to resist
Throw our enemy back from whence he came
But killing him is more preferable to that
For he will return in twenty years like he has done now
We will bear his bombardment and emerge
Then we will defeat him and smash his army and weapons
And savage his homeland as he does ours and we will win
Once the shells stop we will rally those who remain
And we will charge his guns so Victory is ours
