Riga Knows

Riga Knows

Riga knew that things in life would always be difficult

Some things were controllable like her attitude to Pedro

After her father died she left Pedro as he was married

And would never be free unless he left his legal Indian wife

Being of half Portuguese and half Indian descent

He lived with her for visa and legal reasons

She accepted this for years had no issue with it

When her father died she realized what it all was

She was living a lie of the greatest magnitude

Even if Pedro loved her he legally belonged to another

And this was a moral ethical sin and the biggest lie

Riga was always honest with herself even in grief

Her father’s death was six weeks ago

And she ended her relationship with Pedro

While wearing a sexy black gothic mourning dress

It’s over Pedro I cannot give you what you want

This is not what I want now no more living a lie

Don’t touch me boundaries we are over for good

And so Riga left Pedro wounding him deeply

Ending what he knew was most precious

Above all things breaking him in two as a man

Yet both hadn’t failed far from it for love was created

Two and a half years of love intimacy trust shared times

Riga rapidly moved on from ending their relationship

She controlled her thoughts and actions on Pedro

Struggled more dealing with her father’s grief

Refusing professional help for she wasn’t crazy

Just sad sorrowful heartbroken missing her dad

Who died before his time on his birthday

That would take getting used to

And a different life approach

Living for now being mindful and positive

Spending time with her daughters

Her own needs mattered as did work

Family was first drop Pedro no friendship

It wouldn’t work as he deeply loved Riga

So she shut the door on him for good

Pedro focused on his work and hiking

Becoming a soldier again in South America

In this reality he still wrote songs about her

And sang them when alone far from home

Riga controlled what she could it was enough

She was Riga from Dhaka
