Riga New Owner Same Job

Riga New Owner Same Job

The spaceship belonged to a gal. Her ship had a missing tail fin which made control harder. There was also a missing communications antenna. The ability to cross talk past the stars was limited. The gal was called Riga. Her ship once belonged to her friend, Juniper’s Daughter. The other had given the ship upon one condition: that it be used as a force for good. Whether Satanic stopping wars, helping re-locate intelligent beings under cataclysmic threat or anything else. Big or small it didn’t matter. It had gone like this:

“Just use my ship for good Riga. Go and fix things. My time here is over. However, my job is not done. I must go and join my mother Juniper. She is disappointed with me. I did my best. My skills are not equal to hers nor is my time here. She recalled me. Now I pass the job to you. I have no daughter who can do this. I only have you Riga, my friend. Are you up for it? Being in command of a flying saucer? Flying across to galaxy battling evil? Much caused by Satan or other bad entities on the same level as him. Do you want to do this? Are you able to do this Riga?” There it was. All on the table. Juniper’s Daughter was retiring and there was a job vacancy. Did I want to do it? Was I capable? I simply did not know, on both.

“Oh my goodness. I have to chose now Juniper’s Daughter? Right now?” Riga was red faced and sweating. Under pressure. So was the witch. A different kind of pressure.

“Yes, now. You need to decide right now. I will be recalled in five minutes. Then you will take over. If you agree to this. If you do not agree, you will not do it. You cannot be forced. It must be voluntarily Riga.” The witch explained and pointed at her platinum wrist watch. “Four minutes. The clock is ticking.”

“If I refuse, I do not do it? You can’t force me? Is that right?”

“Yes, right. That’s how it works Riga. It has to be by your free will.”

“I simply don’t know. Talk about pressure, talk about life changing quick decisions. Shit.”

“I know. Yes, to both. I am under different pressure. Mother Juniper has even more difficult demands and work for me on the other side. I cannot stay here, much as I want to. Three minutes now.”

“Your mother Juniper. What is she like?”

“Why do you ask?”

“I… just curious…”

“Well, Riga. She has many of your qualities. She is also small, stubborn, very smart and a great critical thinker. A lot like you. You would both get on. And yes, she is a witch. One of immense power. The Devil is terrified of her. One day you should meet…”

“That’s nice to know she is like me. Yes, I would like to meet her. Imagine that, Satan scared of your mother. Ok then...”

“We will sort out meeting up soon. Very soon. Time is up. What is your decision Riga? Yes or no?”

“Ok witch. You want my choice. I agree… I will do this. By my own free will. I will take over and fill your boots. Give me the keys to your ship then…”

“Wow. Oh my… Riga… oh my…”

Juniper’s Daughter hugged Riga and kissed her once on the lips. The witch’s green eyes shed tears. She shook her head and mouthed Thank you. Both women embraced. Riga cried too. A moment and line were crossed. What exactly?

“Thank you, Riga. Here are the keys. It’s made of palladium. Please don’t lose them. It’s the only set there is. The operating manual is underneath the pilot’s seat. If you have any questions simply text or message me. The long-range messages and vertical fin are missing. Both will affect craft performance. You will be fine though. Thank you, Riga. I must go now. Mother Juniper is calling me…”

“Yes, Juniper’s Daughter, my friend and lover. It was a fine time knowing and spending time with you. I will miss you. I love you, always and forever baby. Please keep in touch.”

“Oh Riga. I will not forget you and thank you for taking over. The light side and universe needs you. We will always be close and we will remain in touch. That I promise. We will meet shortly, all of us. Bye for now…”

In a flash of yellow light that turned to dark green, the witch vanished. One moment she was there, the next she was gone. Riga looked at the set of keys in her hand. The keys to a very old and very historical and still quite capable small flying disc. Now it was hers. Yet with this came great responsibility. Riga instinctively knew that the power could be removed just as fast. Not exactly how or by whom but she knew. She nodded and spoke. ‘Yes, witch and mother Juniper. I will not fail either of you. I know Juniper’s Daughter has other things to do. I accept the job and will succeed. Now where do I start…”
