Old Rocks

Old Rocks
The rocks of the mountain
Are millions of years old
And have seen so many things
Like great upheavals
And fossils laid down
Uplifted from the ocean bed
Three miles high
Along with minerals and wealth
Adding to economic growth
Natural recourses in danger
Human greed burning bright
What existed for millions
Now reduced in decades
Some are out of reach
For now till tech improves
Mountains will crumble
Quarries devouring hills
Old rocks petering out

English Mountain Man

English Mountain Man
The English mountain man just died
He was a legend in his own time
The quaint little chapel by the hill was full

His remaining contemporary and friend was there
Paying his respects like the others
Remembering a man who was of the high ground

Tho he was down to earth and a peoples' person
The stone walls he built were straighter and just right
His solid legacy which will last forever

Long after his body is taken back to Nature
His home was below the mountains
Where he worked his entire life

From down the mine to the limestone quarry
To maintaining his part of road
Near his small farm with land and animals

And finally building stonewalls that amazed everyone
From fellow farmers to visiting hikers
I'd love to go back in time and meet him

One of England's last mountain men
Have a beer with him and listen to his stories
A man from a time and history now gone

I will always remember the mountain man
Especially when climbing his mountain...

REBEL JET

REBEL JET

Forty years after its birth the rebel F-20 is an angel of the sky.
Purple in colour to blind its enemy’s eyes, it has laser weapons
and thrust-vectored engines controlled by thought.
This is the craft for mercenaries flown by the daring
and 21st century knights into battle –
they fight for the new republic and the ancient rebel way
against an old royal enemy as deadly as the devil.

info on my new book project

the book is called
Upside Fucking Down in a Blazing Manchester Bomber – Poems from My Life and More by Nick Armbrister

and will be out late 2020

heres a poem

Man Living in the Dustbin
There is a man who lives in a trash can
He’s a funny old character
Telling jokes and dancing a gig
Always happy and funky
He’s become a legend in his head
Something bigger than nothing
Following you to the store
And saying Hi then turning to go
Hoping you follow him
Then give him kindness
A sausage roll or bottled beer
The dustbin man who we see
Wondering why he lives this way
Sleeping in the bin his home
Very cosy if he ay say so
His dustbin down the alleyway
Where nobody will bug him
An ideal example of humanity
Living with a smile in his head
And setting the example
To always smile :)

Eventful War Nick Armbrister poem

They equipped him with a rifle so shoot far and wide
They equipped him with a boots to march onward in enemy lands
They equipped him with a uniform to represent his country
They equipped him with a sack of grenades to blow bunkers
They equipped him with a steel helmet for protection from shrapnel
They equipped him with a long bayonet for close quarters combat
They equipped him with a radio to receive orders from headquarters
They equipped him with a cigarette ration for you’ll soon be smoking
They equipped him with a box of condoms to protect his rifle and penis
They equipped him with a varied meal menu of Iron Rations of beef or pork
